Science and communication under one roof
science communications was founded in Zurich in 2002, with a focus on subjects that are difficult to explain – particularly in science and technology. From the beginning, the agency has brought together two ways of thinking that do not always go hand in hand. Scientific work requires precision, evidence and a willingness to question assumptions. Good communication additionally requires the ability to decide what matters, the courage to leave out what does not, and a willingness to see a subject through the eyes of someone encountering it for the first time. This combination continues to shape the way we work today. We are deliberately a small agency. Our clients work directly with the people responsible for developing their strategy and content. For larger assignments, we bring in specialists from our established network while retaining overall responsibility for the project.
Dr. Eberhard Zangger
Founder and Managing Director
Eberhard Zangger founded science communications in 2002 after working in academic research and subsequently in corporate communications. Trained as a geologist and archaeologist, he has spent much of his professional life working across disciplinary boundaries and bringing scientific research to wider audiences.
He has published more than 100 scientific articles and nine books. His research background continues to shape his work in communications: examining evidence, asking questions, identifying patterns and reducing complex subjects to their essential elements without distorting their substance.
At science communications, he focuses on strategy and positioning, moderates workshops, develops editorial concepts and works with clients on media relations and sensitive communication challenges.
Maya Jagoda
Maya Jagoda holds a Master’s degree in Quantitative Molecular Biology from Humboldt University of Berlin, with a focus on molecular cell biology and biochemistry. During her studies and research, she spent two years at ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. Her scientific background enables her to engage directly with researchers and specialists and to approach communication from the science itself. At science communications, she naturally focuses on life sciences and biotechnology, researching complex subjects and developing them into accurate and accessible content for different audiences.
Regula Sigg
Regula Sigg has worked in science communication since 2003 and played a formative role in the agency for more than a decade. Her exceptional attention to detail and insistence on accuracy helped establish standards that continue to shape our work today. She studied International Relations at the University of St. Gallen and holds the Swiss Federal Certificate for Proofreaders. After several years at NZZ, she joined science communications as a copywriter and subsequently expanded her work into graphic and web design. Since 2015, Regula has worked independently and continues to collaborate with science communications on selected assignments, particularly where editorial precision and rigorous quality control are essential.
