Master’s Degree and Two Awards from Harvard University for Eberhard Zangger

Eberhard Zangger, founder of science communications, now holds a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University. He received the Dean’s Prize for his master’s thesis on digital feudalism and control through social media.

Eberhard Zangger, founder and managing director of science communications GmbH, received a master’s degree and two awards at Harvard University’s annual graduation ceremony yesterday. Zangger graduated with a four-year Master of Liberal Arts (ALM) in Extension Studies, field of Anthropology and Archaeology, and was awarded the ALM Dean’s List Certificate for Academic Achievement for his grade point average. He also won the Dean’s Prize for Outstanding ALM Thesis in Anthropology for his master’s thesis. In it, Zangger shows how social media, driven by data collection for targeted advertising, enables unprecedented control of public opinion by a few corporations. This leads to a kind of digital feudalism in which the ruling class controls both the economy and the state. The paper is available for free download here.
